Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie who is an award winning Nigerian writer, women’s right activist and Nigerian fashion enthusiast has announced in a recent press conference in Lagos, Nigeria that her highly acclaimed writing workshop is set to return.
The workshop which was formerly known as ‘Farafina Trust Creative Writing workshop’ could not hold last year due to some setbacks, will now hold this year. The 2018 edition is sponsored by popular Nigerian based pop culture and music focused TV station, Trace Nigeria.

November 20th – 30th, 2018.

Here’s what the beautiful Chimamanda had to say about the workshop at the press conference:

“The workshop will continue to provide me the opportunity to contribute to the growth of the writing community in Nigeria. It will also serve as a platform for writers to learn from one another and from established writers.”

The workshop has now been changed from the Farafina Trust Creative Writing Workshop to the Purple Hibiscus Trust Writing Workshop.

Applications from eligible candidates for the workshop are open till October 15th, 2018, and are to be sent via email to:

The subject of your email should be ‘Workshop Application’. While the body of the email should contain your name, address, and a fiction or creative non-fiction writing sample between 200-1,000 words.

The final shortlisted applicants will be notified on November 7th, 2018 and accommodation will be provided for the accepted applicants through out the duration of the workshop.
