NUHA Foundation is an Non-Governmental Organisation (NGO) passionate about education. It combines the acronym for ‘Nurturing Human Activity’ and the transliteration for the Arabic noun meaning mind, intellect to get it’s name.

It doesn’t matter if English is not your first language, anyone from anywhere is eligible. Focus will be placed on the quality of your argument and the originality of your ideas. The winner gets up to $2400, with a 2nd Prize of up to $1200 and a 3rd Prize of up to $400.

To participate, write an article of 600 to 1500 words on one of the topics below:

  1. “Most people don’t listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply.” – Stephen R. Covey. Do you agree?
  2. “Injustice anywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” – Martin Luther King Jr. Discuss.
  3. “He who opens a school door, closes a prison.” – Victor Hugo. Discuss.
  4. Discuss the following excerpt from Warsan Shire’s poem Home:

“you have to understand,
that no one puts their children in a boat
unless the water is safer than the land”

The Jury will focus on the quality of your arguments and the originality of your ideas.

How to Submit Your Article

After ompleting the submission form above, send your article and form to the Editors at bloggingprizes-english@nuhafoundation.org by midnight PST (Pacific Time Zone) on Saturday 13th October, 2018 latest!

The Editorial team will read every article they receive, which may then be published on the NUHA blog until Saturday 3rd of November, 2018.

What Happens Next After Submission?

Tell your family and friends to vote for your article by liking it on Facebook directly from the NUHA website and commenting on it. The voting closes at midnight PST (Pacific Time Zone) on Saturday 17th of November, 2018.

On 22nd of November, 2018, the Editor will announce the articles that have been shortlisted: these will be the articles that received the most votes, the articles that were most debated and the articles that may not have got much public attention but that deserve to be shortlisted for their intrinsic quality.

The Editor will also introduce the Jury for this year’s writing competition. The Jury will focus on the quality of your arguments and the originality of your ideas.

On 10th of December, 2018, the Editor will announce the Winner, Runner-Up Prizes and Matched Prizes!
